Daifuku Airport Technologies takes out InterTerminal Award

Daifuku Airport Technologies has been announced the winner of InterAirport’s InterTerminal award 2019 for their visualization and simulation software, Sym3.

Daifuku Airport Technologies has been announced the winner of InterAirport's InterTerminal award 2019 for their visualization and simulation software, Sym3.

Implemented within airport operations globally, the revolutionary design of Sym3 Operator visualizes a 3D render of the Baggage Handling System (BHS), providing complete visibility across all aspects of the system in real-time.

Created specifically for use across all integrated systems within the BHS, Sym3 provides end-to-end SCADA/Maintenance Diagnostic System (MDS).

State-of-the-art features allow users to accurately track bags in addition to monitoring the status of hardware live. Superior functionality supports operators and manages to filter, search, and highlight individual bags within the BHS based on a range of criteria including barcodes/PAX, carrier, flight number, EDT, and makeup destination.

The announcement coincides with the recent release of Sym3 V8, now with the ability to view and access data on any device via the web interface, and importantly, identify potential bags at risk-reducing levels of misconnected baggage and system downtime. Meaning informed critical decisions can be made on-the-go, with complete visibility to all stakeholders.

Executive Manager of Software, Thibaut Caplain commented, "Sym3 has been deployed by Daifuku over many years now, and bag tracking has become our standard for SCADA. We are very excited with the web browser support in version 8 which opens up the technology to all stakeholders to maximise the value for the airports. It is fantastic to get this award and to be able to demonstrate this at the InterAirport. The ability to use the 3D BHS model in a web browser also opens up plenty of exciting opportunities as visualisation of live or historical statistical data."

A game-changer for operations teams is the ability for regular training and process improvements. Sym3 automatically records the last 48 hours of data, allowing staff to review historical footage to troubleshooting failures, modifying processes, and staff training.

The software's open interface and scripting capabilities allow for a single seamless integration with third-party software, including computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), CCTV systems, and document management systems.
